Current Bill Summary

SJR 14 - This proposed constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, would modify the gubernatorial appointment process.

Currently, an interim appointee's authority to act shall terminate if the appointee does not receive the advice and consent of the Senate within thirty days after the Senate has convened in regular or special session. This amendment changes the time period from thirty days to forty-five days.

In the absence of a having a department head who has been appointed by the Governor and received the advice and consent of the senate, the department shall be administered in the manner provided by law.

This amendment is similar to SJR 30 (2014).
