Current Bill Summary

SB 509 - This act modifies the definition of "customer-generator" by removing the 100 kilowatt or less capacity specification of the electrical generating system. If the electricity generated by the customer-generator exceeds the electricity supplied by the supplier during a billing period, the customer shall be billed for the appropriate minimum bill and credited for the excess energy. Such excess energy shall be carried forward, except any excess energy remaining shall expire as of the earlier of the end of the March billing period of a 12 month billing period or upon service termination.

This act is identical to HB 481 (2015), and is substantially similar to SB 871 (2014), SCS/SB 396 (2013), SB 420 (2013), and HCS/HB 1305 (2012).
