SCS/SB 524 - Currently, a political subdivision may elect to contribute to a health insurance plan or similar benefit for its elected officials and employees as part of their compensation. When a county elects to furnish all or part of medical expenses then it must provide the benefit to all elected officials.

This act modifies that language to provide that if a county elects to furnish all or part of the medical expenses, then it must do so only for those elected officials who are compensated by the county. The county may furnish medical expenses to other elected officials not compensated by the county.
