SB 565 - This act requires firearm owners to report the loss or theft of a firearm within 24 hours to a local law enforcement agency. Failure to report the loss or theft of a firearm is punishable by a fine of $1,000. Any subsequent offense of failing to report as required is a Class A misdemeanor. If the person has a concealed carry permit and fails to immediately pay any fine ordered for the failure to report, then that person's permit must be suspended for a year. Those who do not have a permit who fail to pay the fine are ineligible to receive a permit for a year. MEGHAN LUECKE
