SB 583 - Currently, in medical malpractice cases plaintiffs are required to prove noneconomic damages by a preponderance of the evidence. This act changes the evidentiary standard for noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases to clear and convincing.

This act is substantially similar to SB 64 (2013).
