Current Bill Summary

SB 515 - This act allows the Senate to remove the Commissioner of Education by adopting a resolution by a two-thirds vote. Any commissioner who is removed could not be reappointed by the State Board of Education unless the Senate allowed such reappointment by the adoption of a resolution by a two-thirds vote.

This act is contingent on passage of a constitutional amendment to Article IX, Section 2(b) of the Missouri Constitution to allow the Senate to remove the Commissioner of Education by resolution.
