Current Bill Summary

SB 246 - This act provides that any funds appropriated by the General Assembly for the Missouri Juneteenth Heritage and Jazz Festival and Memorial shall be celebrated in Kansas City, St. Louis City or St. Louis County. The Missouri Juneteenth Heritage and Jazz Festival and Memorial Fund is created and money in the fund shall be used for such festival and memorial.

Currently, sixty percent of the annual estimate of nonresident entertainer and professional athlete tax are allocated to the Missouri Arts Council trust fund. This act reduces the percentage to fifty percent and requires that the remaining ten percent or two million dollars, whichever is greater, be transferred to the Missouri Juneteenth Heritage and Jazz Festival and Memorial Fund.

This act is similar to HB 712 (2011).
