HB 85 - This act requires the Department of Transportation to issue emergency utility response permits for the transporting of utility wires, cables, poles and other equipment needed for repair work immediately following a disaster where utility service has been disrupted. Under exigent circumstances, verbal approval of such operation may be made by the motor carrier compliance supervisor or other designated representative. Utility vehicles and equipment used to assist utility companies granted the special permits under this act may be operated and transported on state-maintained highways at any time of day.
