SB 720 - Under current law, a criminal defendant whose case is filed in a county with prisons that have an annual average population of more than 2,000 prisoners must follow certain procedures to obtain a change of venue. This act reduces the population threshold, so that defendants in counties with prisons that have annual populations in excess of 1,000 prisoners must follow the specified venue change procedures.
