SS#2/SJR 48 - This proposed constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, provides that all meetings of any Senate or House apportionment commission, including any appellate apportionment commission, shall be public, and that such commissions shall be subject to general laws concerning open records and open meetings. The resolution further prohibits any member of an apportionment commission created for redistricting the House of Representatives or the Senate from serving as a member of the General Assembly for ten years after the date of their appointment to the commission by the Governor. Under current provisions of the Constitution, such members are prohibited from serving in the General Assembly for four years after the filing of the statement and map with the Secretary of State.
