HB 1048 Modifies the length of school board terms for school districts that became urban districts because of the 2010 census

HB 1048 – Current law provides that school board members of urban school districts serve a term of six years whereas board members in a seven director school district serve a term of three years. This act provides that any school district that becomes an urban school district because of the 2010 federal decennial census will retain terms of three years for its school board members. In addition, school board member elections will continue to be held at the general municipal election in April of each year.

This act contains an emergency clause.

This act is identical to HB 1626 (2012) and similar to SB 450 (2012).
