SB 917 - This act licenses prescribing psychologists and confers the authority to prescribe certain medications and test blood and urine to monitor treatment. Licensees shall not be allowed to order electro-convulsive therapy. As a prerequisite to licensure a licensee must: • Complete 400 hours of didactic educational instruction. • Complete a 1 year supervised fellowship with a full-time caseload of patients and provide medication management, psychological evaluations, and therapeutic services. • Pass a national exam. • Maintain medical liability insurance. Licensees shall prescribe under a collaborative practice agreement for the first year of licensure. After the first year of licensure the licensee shall maintain a referral agreement with a physician to provide for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
