May 10, 2007 - The Rolla swim team, also called the Miners, placed fourth at the in Division II of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship in March. The Miners have also led the nation in team grade point average in at least one semester for the past seven years. In the picture are (from left) Sen. Students were chosen to attend the trip, sponsored by the American Legion, for having an A average in their American history of government classes.
April 26, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz poses with a group of high school students and teachers from Waynesville High School on the grand staircase. April 26, 2007 - Sen. Frank Barnitz presents a resolution to Rosalie Spencer, finalist from Rolla in the Missouri Outstanding Older Worker contest. The contest honors Missouri workers who are over 55 and work over 20 hours a week. Spencer has been working at Rolla Municipal Utilities since 1968. April 25, 2007 - Jenna Homeyer, a student at Salem High School, receives a resolution from Sen. Frank Barnitz. Homeyer has been named a Joanne Breckenridge Scholar for her academic accomplishments, political involvement, and participation in school and community activities.
April 24, 2007 - A group of students from Fatima High School in Westphalia visited Jefferson City for "Team Spirit Day".
Team Spirit is an organization comprised of students who promote safe driving practices including seatbelt usage and sober driving.
April 23, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz welcomed beginners and experienced shooters to the Missouri Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus Benefit Shoot.
April 12, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz welcomed to the state Capitol a group of students from Bad Arolsen, Germany.
The group of 20 students was accompanied by Hermann High School German teacher Katie Astrack.
April 11, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz welcomed to the state Capitol a group of students from North Wood Elementary in Salem.
April 10, 2007 - Three high school sophomores from the 16th District visited the Capitol for the annual Sophomore Pilgrimage program. Barnitz, Emali Kimker, and Katie Hatcher March 29, 2007 - A group from Dent County came to experience first-hand the events in the Capitol while learning about the legislative process as a part of Missouri Farm Bureau's Youth Leadership Day. Those visiting included Ryan Tiefenthaler, Ryan Marlin, Amanda Fuller, and Jim Rogers March 29, 2007 - Senator Barnitz met with delegates from Crawford County for Missouri Farm Bureau's Youth Leadership Day. Those visiting included Kim Gibbs, Tyler Richter, Emily Borgman, and Cody Wallen. March 29, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz welcomed a group of high school students Missouri Farm Bureau's Youth Leadership Day from Montgomery County. Those visiting included Whitney Noltensmeyer, Randy Sachs, Regina Pritchett, Elizabeth Blaue, Sam Cope, and William Waddell.
March 27, 2007 -Sen. Barnitz attended a live-fire demonstration of a new armor plating designed and manufactured by Missouri-owned Def Bar Systems, LLC. Sen. Barnitz has encouraged Missouri Department of Economic Development and the Missouri Army National Guard to jointly recommend a proposal that would detail how to quickly acquire the product for use by Missouri troops serving our country.
March 15, 2007 -Sen. Barnitz welcomed to the state Capitol a group of students from the 16th District. Fifth-graders from Dent-Phelps R-III met with Barnitz and enjoyed the sights in Jefferson City. March 14, 2007 -A group of educational professionals visited the Capitol while participating in the South Central Region Leadership Academy. March 13, 2007 -A group of fourth graders from St. Joseph Catholic School in Westphalia met with Barnitz and enjoyed the sights in Jefferson City. March 10, 2007 -A group of future Camp Clover Point Councilors visited the State Capitol in Jefferson. The group, students at Rolla Junior High School, included (from left) Casey Kelly, Kelly Hermann, and Cami Barnitz, Sen. Barnitz's daughter.
March 7, 2007 -Ellie Griesbauer joined her fourth grade class from Bellflower Elementary and then stayed to become a page for the day. March 7, 2007 -A group of educators from the South Central Region of the Missouri State Teachers Association, a professional education association for teachers in the state came to Jefferson City.
March 7, 2007 -Valerie Moats, Julie Weems, and Anna Marie Kulback of the South Central Region of the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) came to Jefferson City to discuss education issues with Sen. Barnitz. March 7, 2007 -A group of fourth graders from Bellflower pose on the dais with Sen. Barnitz.
March 6, 2007 -Sen. Barnitz introduced to the Missouri Senate Major General William H. McCoy, Commander of the U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center and Commandant of the U.S. Army Engineer School at Ft. Leonard Wood. Maj. Gen. McCoy spoke before the Senate and also took time out to address the House and meet with veterans' groups.
March 6, 2007 -The Rolla High School Chamber Choir and the Rolla Men of Song performed in the state Capitol. The groups took part in the 2007 Missouri Fine Arts Education Day.
March 6, 2007 -The Linn High School Band performed on the Capitol steps as part of the Missouri Fine Arts Education Day. Tom Higgins of the Osage County R-II School District directed the band. March 6, 2007 -Rolla High School art students visited the Capitol to participate in the Youth Arts Month and Fine Arts Education Day festivities on March 6.
March 1, 2007 -A large gathering of students, teachers and chaperones from Salem Elementary School enjoyed tours of the state Capitol and Governor's Mansion during their visit.
February 28, 2007 - Members of Parents as Teachers, a national organization promoting early childhood learning, from Gasconade and Osage counties joined Sen. Barnitz in Jefferson City. Teachers as Parents members included (from left) Susan Zelch, Barbara Zerr, Raylene Holrah, Patricia Brown, Cathy Borgmeyer and Ruth Rebmann. February 27, 2007 - Students visited the Capitol in recognition of "Rallying for Education" during Missouri Community College Association Day. A legislative luncheon was provided for students, faculty, senators and staff in the Capitol Rotunda and a reception followed at the Capitol Plaza Hotel with Missouri Community College presidents and chancellors. February 20, 2007 - Senator Frank Barnitz, D-Lake Spring, met with State FFA Area 5 Vice-President Rachael Keathley (left), a 2006 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown school who was recognized on the Senate floor in honor of National FFA Week, and Andrea Pruett, State Vice-President for Area 13.
February 14, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz received the 2006 Public Servant Award from the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) at MCGA's annual meeting on Feb. 14. January 31, 2007 - Valerie Moats and Anna Marie Kulback of the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) met with Sen. Barnitz to talk about educational issues. January 24, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz sponsored Rita C. Flake of Jonesburg who was approved as a member of the Missouri Citizens' Commission on Compensation of Elected Officials. January 11, 2007 - Sen. Barnitz received the 2007 Star of Agribusiness Award from the Missouri Agribusiness Association (MO-AG). Sen. Barnitz received the award at the MO-AG Winter Convention and Legislative Conference.
