Biography for Senator Dempsey

Sen. Tom Dempsey, a Republican, represents part of St. Charles County (District 23) in the Missouri Senate. Sen. Dempsey was first elected to the Senate in a 2007 special election and is general manager of The Columns, a banquet and conference center and is a third generation restaurateur.

In addition to his legislative duties, Sen. Dempsey is a member of the following organizations: St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, St. Peter's Chamber of Commerce and the St. Charles Rotary Club. He attends St. Cletus Catholic Church.

Through out his career, Sen. Dempsey received the 2002, 2003 and 2004 RCGA Lewis and Clark Statesman Award, the St. Louis Business Journal Legislative Award and the Mo Farm Bureau Friend of Agriculture Award. He has also been awarded the Mo Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise Award and the Mo Community College Association Distinguished Legislator Award.

A 1985 graduate of DeSmet Jesuit High School, Sen. Dempsey received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Rockhurst University in 1989.

Born in St. Charles, Sen. Dempsey resides there with his wife, Molly, and their children: Meaghan, Abby and Jack.
