Biography for Senator McKenna

Sen. Ryan Glennon McKenna was elected to the Missouri Senate in 2006 after having served in the Missouri House since 1998. During his time in the House, Sen. McKenna was known for his commitment to making Missouri roads safer.

In the Senate, he represents the 22nd District, which is comprised of the northern half of Jefferson County.

Sen. Ryan McKenna is a third-generation member of the Missouri Legislature. His grandfather J. Glennon McKenna served in the House in 1941 and 1942, and in 1982, his father, William P. McKenna, was elected to the House where he served for six terms before he was elected to the Senate in 1993. William McKenna was chosen by his peers to lead the upper chamber as president pro tem during the 89th General Assembly.

Sen. Ryan McKenna was born April 27, 1973, to William P. McKenna and Katherine A. Cattoor in St. Louis City. He and his sister Lisa M. McKenna grew up in Barnhart.

After graduating from St. Pius X High School in Festus, Sen. McKenna attended Jefferson College for one year where he was a member of the All-State baseball team in 1993. Sen. McKenna earned a bachelor's degree in education from Southwest Missouri State University in 1997 and made it to the Dean's list in 1996 and 1997.

Sen. McKenna is also a construction marketing representative for LECET and is also a member of the Festus Elks Club and Jefferson County Democratic Club.

Sen. McKenna and his wife, Angela, were married in 2003, and they currently reside in Crystal City.
