SB 357 - Under this act, the Department of Health and Senior Services shall require each hospital providing emergency services to have in place a policy for emergency treating physicians to contact the patient's primary care physician upon the patient's request and as soon as practically possible within a twelve hour period. The purpose of the consultation shall be to seek advice regarding the patient's medical history and needs that may be relevant to the patient's medical treatment. The consultation shall not inappropriately delay services and it shall occur once the emergency treating physician has stabilized the patient. The Department shall promulgate rules to enforce the provisions of this section.
