SCS/HB 215 - This act expands the jurisdiction of juvenile courts to include individuals who are over seventeen years of age but not yet eighteen years of age for the sole purpose of status offenses by modifying the definitions of "child," "adult," and "status offense." The provisions allowing a parent to petition the circuit court to extend the jurisdiction of the juvenile court for his or her high school child are repealed. The implementation of the act is subject to appropriation.

This act is similar to SB 414 (2007).
