Current Bill Summary

SCS/SB 357 - Under this act, the Department of Health and Senior Services shall require each hospital providing emergency services to have in place a policy for physicians treating patients in the hospital emergency department to make a reasonable attempt, as determined by the hospital, to notify the patient's physician upon the patient's request. The time frames for providing the notification shall be established by the policy and shall be approved by the hospital medical staff. The notification shall not inappropriately delay services to patients and shall occur once the emergency treating physician has stabilized the patient.
