Current Bill Summary

SB 702 - This act requires that after August 28, 2007, any building constructed by or for the state shall obtain certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.

The Commissioner of the Office of Administration may exempt any building from the requirements of the act when it is estimated that the cost of compliance sufficiently exceeds the building's life cycle cost savings.

The Department of Natural Resources shall promulgate rules to implement the provisions of the act and shall develop procedures to verify compliance with the act.
