Current Bill Summary

SCS/SB 379 - This act requires the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Board to offer to all qualified employees the option of receiving health care coverage through a high deductible health plan and the establishment of a health savings accounts. This offer must be made beginning with the open enrollment period for the 2009 plan year. The act further requires all health carriers participating in the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan to offer a high deductible plan to qualified individuals in connection with a health savings account. In order for a qualified individual to obtain a high deductible health plan through the Missouri consolidated health care plan, the individual must present evidence to the board that he or she has established a health savings account in compliance with federal law. In addition, the board shall issue a request for proposals from insurance carriers interested in offering a high deductible health plan in connection with a health savings account.

A similar provision can be found in the truly agreed to version of HB 818 (2007).
