Current Bill Summary

SB 448 - This act allows the sheriff of a county granting a change of venue and the sheriff of a county into which the cause is removed to agree as to which county's jail will house a defendant. If the sheriffs do not agree, the defendant will be confined in the county into which the cause is removed. If the county granting the change of venue continues to house the defendant, the sheriff of the county will be responsible for getting the defendant to court appearances.

This act is similar to certain provisions of CCS/SS/SCS/HCS/HB 353 (2005) & CCS/HCS/SS/SCS/SB 210 (2005).
