AN ACT

To amend chapter 105, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to public employees.


 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 105, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 105.875, to read as follows:

            105.875. 1. The provisions of this section shall be known as and may be cited as the "Hazardous Duty Compensation Act".

            2. "Safety sensitive positions" shall mean public employment involving the performance of duties which have a direct and immediate impact on the safety of the public and other public employees including but not limited to highway workers.

            3. Any employee who has a safety sensitive job shall be paid on a basis of one additional pay bracket.

            4. Each department shall have a maximum of three pay brackets per pay grade.

            5. Each department shall administer a comprehensive job study at least every five years to help insure that state salaries stay more competitive with the private job sector.

            6. Beginning July 1, 2006, each department shall adopt a pay system with twenty-six pay periods annually.
