Current Bill Summary

SB 1316 - This act asserts that a school district's decision to not retain a probationary teacher may only be based upon the competency or job performance of that teacher and no such decision shall be made because of a decrease in pupil enrollment, school district reorganization or the financial condition of the school district. In cases where school districts are compelled to reduce their labor force because of a decrease in pupil enrollment, school district reorganization or the financial condition of the school district, the district shall solely comply with the current law provisions regarding reduction in teacher forces.
