JEFFERSON CITY - State Sen. John Loudon, R-West St. Louis County, has successfully sponsored the appointment of Jane B. Klieve, St. Louis, to serve on the Missouri Housing Development Commission.
Klieve is currently the executive director of Coro Midwestern Center, a not-for-profit leadership training organization dedicated to training leaders to strengthen communities. Her civic involvement includes serving on the Missouri Women's Council, FOCUS St. Louis, and the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life. She received a BA in psychology from Northwestern University and an MA in business, human resources from the University of Iowa.
"This commission is one of the most important in Missouri, and I believe Jane will be a valuable addition," said Loudon. "Her education, work experience and community involvement should make her an outstanding member."
The Missouri Housing Development Commission, which was established in 1969, works to provide quality, safe, affordable housing for low and moderate-income citizens of Missouri. The commission has encouraged and assisted in the production of affordable rental housing and provided homeownership opportunities for thousands of families.
The governor makes appointments to state boards and commissions with the advice and consent of the Senate.
The Senate Committee on Gubernatorial Appointments usually meets weekly during the legislative session. Their sponsoring senator presents each appointee to the committee.
Once the committee has approved appointments, the chairman reports on the committee's action to the floor for consideration by the full Senate.
Appointees must be approved by the committee and confirmed by the full Senate before taking the position on the board or the committee.
