Current Bill Summary

SB 1256 - The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education shall promulgate rules to allow all teacher education students who have been employed for at least two years as teacher assistants to utilize their teacher assistant experience to bypass the practice teaching evaluation and observation process. These rules shall allow the certified teacher working with the teacher assistant to observe and evaluate said teacher assistant's practice teaching.

Provisions similar to those contained in this act have been incorporated into the truly agreed to CCS/HCS/HB 1711 (2002). Similar provisions are also contained in the SCS/HB 1817 (2002) and the SS/SCS/SB 1059 (2002).
