AN ACT
To amend chapter 209, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to closed captioning.
Section A. Chapter 209, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 209.350, to read as follows:
209.350. 1. In order to ensure effective communication of the content of all local news, weather and sports broadcasts to deaf and hard of hearing Missourians, effective July 1, 2002, all television stations located in the state of Missouri shall provide captioning of all local news, weather and sports programming.
2. As used in this section, "captioning of programming" shall include only real-time captioning and shall not include "electronic newsroom" technology.
