Current Bill Summary

SB 24 - This act requires health insurance carriers to use standardized forms for explanation of benefits and referrals. These standardized explanation of benefits form will be the explanation of Medicare benefits Part B form. This form must be used by insurance companies after January 1, 2003. The standardized referral form will be developed by a special task force established by the Department of Insurance. The standardized referral form must be used by health care providers and health carriers after January 1, 2003.

This bill is similar to SB 614 (2000) and SB 120 (1999).
