SB 919 - This act makes several technical changes to and repeals obsolete sections of law concerning schools. The act makes technical and simplifying changes to various provisions governing seven-director districts. The act simplifies various operating procedures for all school districts. The act also simplifies expulsion and suspension of students, eliminating the requirement of notice and hearing before suspending students convicted of or admitting to commission of a felony.

The age at which developmentally-delayed pre-kindergarten students may enroll is changed from three years before first day of October to three years before first day of August in the year of commencing such program.

School boards are given authority to make emergency repairs to buildings by vote of board, suspending requirement of taking bids. The threshold for metropolitan school districts to take bids for construction or repair of buildings is raised from five to twelve thousand five hundred dollars.

This act is virtually identical to SB 472 from 1999.
