AN ACT

To repeal section 115.617, RSMo 1994, relating to election authorities, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the same subject.


Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:

Section A.  Section 115.617, RSMo 1994, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 115.617, to read as follows:

115.617.  Whenever a member of any county committee dies, becomes disabled, resigns, or ceases to be a registered voter of or a resident of the county or the committee district from which he or she is elected, or fails to appear at consecutive meetings without adequate reason as determined by the member who serves as chair, a vacancy shall exist on the committee.  The number of consecutive meetings missed will be determined by the member who serves as chair.  A majority of the committee shall elect another person to fill the vacancy who, for one year next before his election, shall have been both a registered voter of and a resident of the county and the committee district.  The person selected to fill the vacancy shall serve the remainder of the vacated term.
