Paul M. Berra served the people of the 3rd District (part of St. Louis City). Born in St. Louis, he received his education from St. Ambrose Parochial School; Christian Brother’s High School; and St. Louis University School of Commerce and Finance. Senator Berra worked as a bookkeeper and operated a restaurant. He served in World War II with the U.S. Army in the European theater from 1943-1946. Senator Berra was elected to the House of Representatives in 1953 to fill an unexpired term. He was re-elected in 1954, 1956, 1958, 1960 and 1962. In 1964 during a special election, Senator Berra was chosen to fill an unexpired Senate term, and re-elected to a full term that same year. In 1966, he was appointed to serve as St. Louis City Treasurer. (Democrat)
