Hardin Charles Cox served the people of the 12th District (Adair, Andrew, Atchison, Caldwell, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Mercer, Nodaway, Putnam, Schuyler, Scotland, Sullivan and Worth counties). Born in Rock Port, he received his education from the University of Missouri earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business and public administration. Senator Cox operated insurance and real estate agencies for nearly three decades. He served in the U.S. Army in the Japan Occupation Force Signal Corps as a corporal; and the U.S. Artillery in Korea as a first lieutenant. Senator Cox was elected to the House of Representatives in 1964, and was re-elected in 1966, 1968, 1970 and 1972. He was elected to the Senate in 1974, and again in 1978. During that time he served as Assistant Majority Floor Leader. (Democrat)
