Call Brings Senators Back to Jefferson City
One Month Ahead of Schedule

JEFFERSON CITY – Senators return to the upper chamber today (12-2) following the governor’s call for a special session.  The call came one day after the Thanksgiving holiday requesting lawmakers to expand certain economic development programs in order to compete with a handful of other states for aerospace manufacturing projects that are projected to create a significant amount of jobs and provide a large capital investment for the Show-Me State.

More specifically, the governor’s call asks lawmakers to enact legislation that would authorize large-scale aerospace projects to be funded under the Missouri Works Program, Missouri Business Use Incentives for Large-Scale Development Act (BUILD), Missouri Works Training Program, and the Real Property Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act within a distinct annual funding cap ($150 million) established for such aerospace projects.

The call also allows senators to consider appointments to government boards, commissions, departments, and divisions that require the advice and consent of the full Senate.

Lawmakers will convene for special session at 4:00 p.m. today.  Click here to read the full proclamation issued by the governor.

The Missouri Senate will follow debate during special session and live tweet floor action (@MissouriSenate).  You can follow these tweets by visiting the Missouri Senate's official Twitter page: https://twitter.com/MissouriSenate.  You can also read legislation filed for the December special session online (www.senate.mo.gov) once the legislation is introduced in its respective chamber.
