JEFFERSON CITY — Senate President Pro Tem Robert N. Mayer, R-Dexter, recently appointed several members of the upper chamber to three Senate committees.
The Committee on Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions, and Ethics is responsible for considering and reporting on rules for the government of the Senate and joint rules when requested by the Senate, examining and reporting on bills and matters referred to the panel relating to ethics and the conduct of public officials and employees, recommending to the Senate the rules by which investigations and disciplinary proceedings will be conducted, and examining and reporting on all resolutions and other matters referred to the committee, among other charges.
Members serving on the committee include:
- Sen. Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, Chairman
- Senator Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, Vice-Chairman
- Sen. Robert Mayer
- Sen. Jack Goodman, R-Mt. Vernon
- Sen. Brad Lager, R-Savannah
- Sen. Jolie Justus, D-Kansas City
- Sen. Timothy Green, D-Spanish Lake
Members to the Committee on Administration were also announced:
- Sen. Robert Mayer, Chairman
- Sen. Tom Dempsey, Vice-Chairman
- Sen. Jack Goodman
- Sen. Victor Callahan, D-Independence
- Sen. Robin Wright-Jones, D-St. Louis
Among other responsibilities, this committee has control of all financial obligations and business affairs of the Senate, the assignment of offices and seats, and the supervision of certain designated employees.
Finally, the Committee on Gubernatorial Appointments considers and reports on Missouri citizens who have been appointed to serve on one of the many governor’s boards and commissions.
