Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal to
Hold News Conference on Veto of HB 42

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, will join parents of the Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) at a news conference scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at McCluer South Berkeley High School in Ferguson. House Bill 42, also known as the student transfer bill, was vetoed by the governor earlier this month. The proposal was designed to allow students attending unaccredited school districts to attend neighboring schools.

“All residents in St. Louis County should be concerned about the governor’s incomplete education plan,” Sen. Chappelle-Nadal said. “His inaction over the last two years is totally unacceptable. Children need better options than what they are getting in unaccredited schools.”
