Legislative Column for the Week of Jan. 12, 2015
Committee Appointments
Submitted in the Senate

During the second week of session, bills were introduced, lawmakers prepared for debate on important issues and standing committee appointments were submitted by President Pro Tem Dempsey, R-St. Charles, for the 98th General Assembly. I am very pleased with my committee assignments and was honored to be named vice-chair of the Seniors, Families and Children Committee in my first year.

Other committees I have been appointed to include: Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment; Financial and Government Organizations and Elections; Government Accountability and Fiscal Oversight and Joint Committee on Education. Committee appointments are assigned at the beginning of the First Regular Session of a General Assembly and remain throughout the two-year general assembly.

Sen. Jeanie Riddle, R-Callaway, was appointed to committees by President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, on Monday, Jan. 12.

I am eager to work with my colleagues on the floor, and in committee, to create a stronger and better Missouri for our children and grandchildren by improving our infrastructure, providing ample educational options, and making sure state government is efficient and fiscally sound.  These committee assignments will help me achieve the goals that I have discussed with many of you and have established during my legislative career.

It is an honor to be your State Senator and my door is always open to your concerns, questions or comments. Please feel free to contact me at (573) 751-2757 or visit my web page at www.senate.mo.gov/riddle.
