Legislative Column for the Week of Jan. 05, 2015
New Legislative Session, New Chair

This week marked the beginning of the first Regular Session of the 98th General Assembly. After serving the last six years in the Missouri House, I feel privileged to join the prestigious ranks of the Missouri Senate. On Wednesday, January 7, I was both honored and humbled to be sworn in to serve the 10th Senatorial District and represent my constituents’ issues.

Shown above, Sen. Jeanie Riddle sworn in by Chief Justice Mary Russell of the Missouri Supreme Court on the opening day of the First Regular Session of the 98th General Assembly.

I fully intend to carry with me to the Senate the same passion and moral beliefs that I incorporated in the House. With the knowledge I have gained through my professional, personal and political career, I will concentrate my efforts this session on protecting the rights of Missouri’s children, as well as providing functional and effective education programs, and working on policies to encourage economic development. I am guided by the values that make Missouri strong: faith in God, love of family and preservation of the freedoms our Constitution guarantees.

Each session addresses new challenges that brings about new changes. I am eager to see what this session brings for Missouri’s future. I look forward to working for you in Jefferson City this year in the Missouri Senate, and will continue to work to create a better Missouri for our children and grandchildren.
