Summer Job and Internship Fair for Kansas City Youth

In today’s job market, young people need every advantage they can to secure gainful employment. While a solid education is critical, it’s sometimes not enough. Employers are increasingly looking for individuals with an educational background, but also real world experience. One of the best ways for students to gain that is by using the summer months to work in a summer job or internship program.

To help students find these positions, the Kansas City Mayor’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement is holding the 11th Annual Bright Future Summer Job and Internship Fair on Saturday, April 25, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon at UMKC Student Union, located at 5100 Cherry St., Kanas City, Mo.

The event is designed to partner employers with applicants looking for summer jobs and internships. Employers seeking to hire Kansas City youth much register for the fair by April 1. Parking is free for all participating employers and job seekers. Professional attire is required, and applicants should bring plenty of copies of their resume.

The office is also hosting pre-employment workshops prior to the fair, which can assist people with crafting a resume, guidance on interview skills and tips on how to land the best summer job.  Registration is required. Limit to 25 people per session.
