JEFFERSON CITY–Missouri senators returned to the Capitol Thursday, Nov. 6 to caucus and elect new leadership for the upcoming 98th General Assembly. Elected unanimously by the majority caucus, Sen. Jay Wasson, R-Nixa, will serve as the Majority Caucus Secretary.

“I’m honored to once again be elected to this position by my party. Having previously served as caucus secretary during the 97th General Assembly, I’m familiar with the responsibilities of this position, and I look forward to ensuring my colleagues’ voices are heard in leadership,” said Sen. Wasson.

First elected to the Missouri State Senate in November 2010, Sen. Wasson represents the citizens of Christian County and parts of Greene County. Prior to the Senate, he represented the 141st House District for eight years.

Sen. Wasson is a life-long resident of Christian County and previously served as Nixa’s mayor for five years. In addition to his legislative duties, he works as a real estate developer. Sen. Wasson and his wife, Retha, reside in Nixa.
