Sen. Romine Highlights
Missouri Veterans History Project

JEFFERSON CITY—When it comes to preserving the memories of our nation’s veterans, Sen. Gary Romine, R-Farmington, believes there is no time like the present. Fortunately, so too does the Missouri Veterans History Project (MVHP), which has been collecting the stories of Missouri’s veterans since 2011.

A volunteer driven nonprofit organization, MVHP aims to collect, preserve and make accessible as many personal accounts of Missouri veterans as possible. Each veteran who participates receives an unedited video recording of their interview free of charge. In partnership with the State Historical Society of Missouri, the Library of Congress and other organizations, the interviews are then archived and made available to the public. Veterans from all wars are invited to share their stories.

“What our veterans have sacrificed for us, for our country, is nothing short of extraordinary.  We need to ensure their legacies live on so that future generations understand the atrocities of war and what it truly means to be heroic,” said Sen. Romine. “I strongly encourage all to learn more about the Missouri Veterans History Project and help fulfill their mission if you are in a position to do so.”

Missouri Veterans History Project has chapters across the state and is seeking volunteers in the St. Louis, Troy, Columbia, Warrensburg, Boonville and Tarkio areas, with plans to expand into the Jefferson City/Fulton and Cape Girardeau areas in early 2015. If you would like to volunteer or be interviewed, please visit the website at www.mvhp.net, email info@mvhp.net or call (573) 522-4220 for more information.
