Senator Parson Honored by the Missouri Farm Bureau for His Work on Amendment 1

JEFFERSON CITY — Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, was recently recognized by the Missouri Farm Bureau for his dedication and commitment to the passage of Amendment 1, known as “Right to Farm.”

Senator Parson and Forrest Lucas, founder of Lucas Oil Products, Inc., were both honored by the Missouri Farm Bureau. Both are still heavily involved in the “Protect the Harvest” campaign.

“I was honored to have been a part of drafting the language of Amendment 1 with members of the Missouri Farm Bureau, farmers, ranchers, as well as other agriculture organizations and commodity groups,” said Sen. Parson. “The outcome of this amendment will positively affect a large portion of our state’s economy and cultural way of life for generations to come.”

The amendment was approved by voters in August, and was certified after a recount in the following weeks. The proposal guarantees the rights of Missourians to “engage in farming and ranching practices.” Elected officials from both sides of the aisle had endorsed the measure, making it a bipartisan effort on a statewide level.

“The efforts put forth on Amendment 1 is a perfect example of what can happen when officials work together on behalf of the citizens we were elected to represent,” said Sen. Parson. “I am hopeful this is just the beginning of the accomplishments we can achieve when we look past party lines and do what is best for the people of Missouri.”
