Open Enrollment for Health Insurance Marketplace Begins Nov. 15

The key goal of the federal Affordable Care Act was to provide insurance coverage to the millions of Americans without access to quality healthcare. One of the main ways it sought to rectify this was through the creation of insurance marketplaces, where citizens could compare policies by various companies and choose the coverage that best fits their needs. Since these marketplaces were created, they’ve helped thousands in Missouri get the health care services they need.

This year, open enrollment runs Nov. 15, 2014 through Feb. 15, 2015.

Energy Assistance Programs Available During Winter for Low-Income Missourians

For many families throughout Missouri, times are still tight. Countless citizens struggle every day to provide for themselves and their children, to put food on the table and keep a roof over their family’s heads. One of the most costly expenditures is for utilities, especially during fall and winter. Rates continue to go up, while wages have generally remained stagnant. It puts a significant burden on lower-income families. No one should have to choose between feeding their children and having heat in their home.

Luckily, Missouri offers a number of assistance programs to low-income residents.
