The 8th Annual Public Health & Safety Fair, which I hosted, was held on Saturday, June 14, at the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center. This important event provided citizens with the tools they need to help fight and prevent chronic disease while supporting a healthy lifestyle. <<more

New Veterans Home Opens in Kansas City

With all the negative news surrounding the services for our veterans, I'm proud of the advances officials in the Kansas City area have made for these former servicemen and women. Thanks to a collaborative effort on behalf of our veterans, the hard work and dedication to ensure housing for those who have honorably served our great country has become a reality. <<more


Transportation Projects Could Benefit
Kansas City Area

On Aug. 5, Missouri voters will have the opportunity to decide if our state's sales taxes should be increased by three-quarters of one percent through Constitutional Amendment 7 to improve various transportation projects throughout our state. <<more


Upcoming KC Parks Public Forum


Kansas City Parks and Recreation is holding a public forum on Tuesday, June 24, at 6 p.m. at the Southeast Community Center in Swope Park. The meeting will help establish priorities for the future improvement of parks, recreation facilities, programs and services within our communities. <<more


City Capital Improvement Project Ideas: Your Input is Needed


Now is your chance to get involved in your local government by providing your suggestions for next year's Kansas City capital improvement budget. A virtual town hall has been created for citizens to join the conversation regarding issues that impact our city, including flood control, storm damage, street resurfacing, bridge repairs, traffic signals and street lights, tree trimming and planting, community centers, as well as improvements to our parks, trails, ball fields and swimming pools. <<more
