Sen. Jay Wasson Receives Legislative Award
for Supporting Job Creation Measures

JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Chamber of Commerce will honor State Sen. Jay Wasson, R-Nixa, with an award for his continued efforts to promote job creation in Missouri at the group’s upcoming annual meeting and awards banquet. Senator Wasson is one of only four other senators to be admitted into the Chamber’s 100% Club this year, an accomplishment given to legislators who consistently support measures to foster economic growth in Missouri.

The senator will receive the award at the Missouri Chamber’s 2013 Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet, to be held on Nov. 14 at Union Station in Kansas City.

“I have nothing but the utmost respect for job creators, especially small business owners. These men and women work day and night to build something from scratch, to create their own success. It’s not an easy thing, especially when your livelihood can depend on how an elected official votes,” said Sen. Wasson.

“But without these industrious people, we wouldn’t have the jobs our citizens rely on,” he continued. “I will always be a staunch supporter of measures that help Missouri employers, because their success, in turn, creates more economic opportunities for our citizens, which is one of my highest priorities.”

Throughout his legislative career, Sen. Wasson has advocated for measures to revitalize Missouri’s economy and protect the interests of small business owners.

“I’m definitely proud of the strides we’ve recently made to improve our state’s economic climate. And we have evidence that things are starting to look up, from falling unemployment to increased state revenue,” said Sen. Wasson. “We have to do more, though. For a lot of people, the so-called ‘recovery’ never hit. They’re still struggling, getting by paycheck to paycheck. We have to create quality jobs for all our citizens. It has to be a continuous goal, which is why I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues next session to find ways to keep growing our state’s economy.”

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry represents more than 4,000 Missouri employers. For almost 90 years, the group has supported legislative measures to promote the success of Missouri businesses and create jobs in the Show-Me State.
