Sen. Gina Walsh Urges Local Groups to Participate in
St. Louis Symphony's Community Concert Program

JEFFERSON CITY— Senator Gina Walsh, D-Bellefontaine Neighbors, encourages local neighborhoods, senior care centers and religious organizations in the 13th District to consider taking part in the St. Louis Symphony’s community partnership program. Participating groups can host free chamber concerts, bringing the thrill of live symphonic music to local citizens.

Through its Symphony in Your Neighborhood, SymphohnyCares for Seniors and Symphony Where You Worship programs, the St. Louis Symphony is able to bring live concerts to local residents.

Organizations that partner with the symphony can host these concerts at no cost to the public, either at a neighborhood venue, a senior center, or a place of worship. The performances are casual and don’t require tickets or reservations, unless otherwise noted.

“St. Louis is home to one of the best city symphonies in the nation, not only for the group’s amazing performances, but its continuous efforts to reach out to the public and foster a love of culture and the arts,” said Sen. Walsh. “I highly encourage any interested groups to look into this program. It’s a great way to bring the symphony to your local communities.”

The symphony’s community concerts are exceptionally popular, with multiple performances scheduled for upcoming months. Groups that are interested in taking part of the program are urged to apply as soon as possible.

Applications for the Symphony in Your Neighborhood can be found here; for SymphonyCares for Seniors here; and for Symphony Where You Worship here.

The St. Louis Symphony celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2010 and is internationally renowned. In addition to its regular performances at Powell Hall in St. Louis, the symphony tours Europe and other locales.
