Committee to Consider Sen. Schmitt's Legislation to
Reduce Violent Crime in St. Louis

JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee will hold a hearing on legislation filed by Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale, to reduce gun violence in St. Louis on Monday (4-15) evening upon the Senate’s adjournment. Senate Bill 448 allows the circuit court in the City of St. Louis to establish a special docket, called the Armed Offender Docket, for the prosecution of certain weapon offenses.

“Keeping our citizens safe is one of my highest priorities. This docket will give the court the tools it needs to consistently dispose of gun-related offenses in our area,” said Sen. Schmitt. “This bill is an important step in reducing violent crime in St. Louis.”

Witnesses scheduled to testify on the bill include the honorable Judge Jack Garvey, Jennifer Joyce, Eddie Roth and UMSL criminologist Rick Rosenfeld.
