Numerous Senate Committees

JEFFERSON CITY — Senator Ed Emery, R-Lamar, was today appointed by the Senate Leader to several Senate committees for the 97th General Assembly, most notably his role to serve as vice chair of the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. This panel has the important task of reviewing legislation pertaining to Missouri’s criminal justice and legal system.

“The Missouri Senate needs strong leaders who aren’t afraid to stand up for the well-being of Missourians, and I look forward to serving this key role in this committee that examines legislation relating to the judicial system in our state,” Sen. Emery said. “We also need policy in place to keep our judicial system running smoothly and ensure Missourians are safe in their communities.”

In addition to the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, Sen. Emery has been appointed to the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment Committee; the Education Committee; and the Ways and Means Committee.

“With the 2013 legislative session now underway, I will remain concentrated on considering quality measures in my respective committees that will put state sovereignty and Missourians’ God-given liberties at the forefront of our journey to make the Show-Me State the best possible place to live in our great nation,” Sen. Emery said.
