SenatoR Ed Emery Sworn In to Serve 31st Senatorial District in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY — On the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 9, Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, was sworn in to the Missouri Senate as state senator for Missouri’s 31st Senatorial District. This area of the Show-Me State includes Cass, Henry, Bates, Vernon, and Barton counties.

“I am privileged to have been chosen by the voters of District 31 to defend their liberty in the upper chamber of the Missouri Legislature,” Sen. Emery said. “My induction to the Missouri Senate is a tribute to my loving and inexorable family and an honor I will not forget. My desire is to represent my constituents effectively and fulfill my oath to the Missouri Constitution.”

Senator Emery is a graduate of Nevada High School, and he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1972. Before embarking on a legislative career, Sen. Emery worked as a petroleum engineer in Louisiana, Texas, and the state of New York. When moving back to Missouri, he also worked as an engineering consultant.

Senator Emery first began his legislative service in the Missouri House of Representatives, where he was elected to represent the 126th District in November 2002. In addition to his legislative duties, Sen. Emery provides services in management and employee relations to businesses and institutions through his small business, Character Returns! Senator Emery lives in Lamar, Mo., with his wife, Rebecca, with whom he has four children: Elizabeth, Samuel, Daniel, and Paul.
