Sen. Chappelle-Nadal to Present Senate Bill 124
to General Laws Committee

JEFFERSON CITY - Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, will testify in favor of legislation she is sponsoring to help reduce gun violence in Missouri’s urban centers.  Senate Bill 124 creates the offense of failing to prevent illegal firearm possession, creates the offense of negligent storage of a firearm and requires a parent or guardian enrolling a child in school to notify the school district or the governing body of a private or charter school that the parent or guardian owns a firearm.

In February, Sen. Chappelle-Nadal hosted a well-attended forum in the 14th Senate District on “Gangs, Guns & Schools” to discuss reasonable ways to reduce the incidences of gun violence without infringing on anybody’s right to keep and bear arms.

Sen. Chappelle-Nadal will testify in support of SB 124 before the Senate General Laws Committee Tuesday afternoon.
