Redistricting is sometimes a difficult process for legislators, as political districts are always evolving. Population changes can throw a Senate or House district into a new area.  Some get completely displaced from their home districts and wind up with a new district full of constituents who don’t know their legislators. There are even lawsuits filed on behalf of legislators and citizens who don’t wish to significantly change their districts.

I’m happy to say that this was not the case for me. The last round of redistricting, which took effect in January, saw a new addition to the 16th District: Camden County. Originally named Kinderhook, the county was officially renamed Camden County in 1843, named after the Chancellor of England, Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden.  The county includes a large chunk of the Lake of the Ozarks region, and its rolling, picturesque landscape showcases the beauty of our great state.

I am very pleased to welcome Camden County into my district, which also includes Crawford, Dent, Phelps and Pulaski counties. I am honored to meet so many new people and hear their questions and concerns. Together, we can make Missouri a better place to live, work and raise a family.
