January 14, 2009 - The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration was held in the Rotunda at the State Capitol. Sen. Wright-Jones was chairwoman of the event this year and also served as Mistress of Ceremonies. The theme of this year's event, hosted by the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus, was "Uniting Communities — Past, Present and Future." The celebration included a host of performances and tributes to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
